Meet Rachel
Hello, I’m Rachel Mistak. I am a landscape painter inspired by life in Michigan. Drawing inspiration from the Great Lakes Region and Midwest, I hope to provide a fresh, painterly perspective to my artwork that captures the spirit of my home state. From expansive landscapes to detailed close-ups, I seek a humble approach to portraying nature through loose impressionist brushwork in layers of soft natural color, carefully balancing realism with abstraction.
My work portrays traditional compositions of well-loved meadows, tree lines, and lake shores. I am drawn to simple compositions due to their innate beauty and the deep feeling of comfort, home, and nostalgia they bring forth. Inspired by grand national and state parks to the simplicity of roadside meadows and discoveries from drives on long back roads; this work is deeply personal. These are places I know and love, and my hope is other’s find comfort in them as well.
